Lily Allen was born and grew up in London. She is the daughter of a producer mother and an actor/musician father Keith Allen. Her parents divorced when she was only four and after her father left them, she lived with her mother and a brother and sister. Despite her parents’ divorce she managed to enjoy a privileged life and attended several expensive schools but had to change schools thirteen times during her childhood before dropping out at the age of 15. In an interview on BBC s Radio1, she commented that “Education is great for some people, but for me it just wasn’t.”

When the British version of my space music was first launched featuring the most popular acts of the day, it included a song by the then-unknown singer-songwriter Lily Allen. By April, 2006 she had more than 140,000 “friends” before even releasing her first single ”LDL” which was released around the same time in a limited edition on “7” vinyl.

Her debut album “Alright, Still” appeared in the U.K in July of the same year. A few months later the album was released in the U.S. in January 2007; it sold more than 34,000 copies. A few months later “Smile” was made available in the U.S. in Apple’s iTunes music Store.

Lily Allen’s pop music is influenced by her eclectic approach to music from punk- rock to ska, from T-Rex to Kate Bush and Eminem. In her songs she reveals stories about love, friends and her life and teen experiences in London. Now, at 21, her unique and personal lyrics, her cockney accent and her youthful energy have helped to propel a young underground voice into a formidable star.

After completing her third U.S. tour in April, Lily Allen has rescheduled some of the dates of her upcoming U.S tour in order to record some of her most recent songs. She will stay in the U.S. and continue to work on her second album. In April she played the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA and appeared on some talk shows such as “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”. She will be performing at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester in June after completing her scheduled appearances in Seattle, WA, Los Angeles, CA, and Charleston., SC; other venues have been rescheduled until later in the year.
