Beyonce Knowles
Beyonce Knowles was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas. She became the lead singer of the R&B group, “Destiny’s Child”. After releasing several albums, the group became the best-selling female group in the world. Beyonce won the “Songwriter of the Year Award” in 2001. Later, she appeared as the lead singer in rapper “Jay- Zs” hit single,”03 Bonnie and Clyde”. Next she remade a single with Luther Vandross.
She parted ways with the group and released her first solo album, “Dangerously in Love” in 2003. That album became the best-selling album of the year in the U.S. and UK. In 2004 she won five Grammy Awards for her hit singles, “Crazy in Love” and “Baby Boy”. Her next album, “B’Day” was released in September 2oo6 on her 25th birthday. Two singles from the album “Déjà vu” and “Beautiful Liar” hit the top of the charts in the UK and another single, “Irreplaceable” became a number one hit worldwide. That song earned her a seventh Grammy and became one of the biggest- selling artists in the world. In 2005, she released “Check on It” featuring Slim Thug and Bun B. The song ended up on the soundtrack of the movie”Pink panther”. Beyonce received five nominations for the 2007 Grammy awards and won the “Best Contemporary R&B album” of the year. Her best-selling song “Beautiful Liar” has been on top of the charts in the U.S., UK and many other countries around the world.
In addition to her singing and song-writing career, she is also a producer, dancer, actress, fashion designer and model. She received two Golden Globe nominations for her role in the film “Dream Girls”, one for acting and the other for writing the song “Listen” for the soundtrack.
