"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul an with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Duet. 6: 6-7
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1
"The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17
“Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t only give your care but give your heart as well." Mother Teresa”
"Therefore by your concord and harmonious love Jesus is being sung. Now all of you together become a choir so that being harmoniously in concord and receiving the key note from God in unison you may sing with one voice through Jesus Christ to the Father." Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch
"My words fly up, my thoughts remain below
Words without thoughts never to heaven go." Shakespeare
From the journal of your Choice Raido Programmer: Carolee Mayne
This past season has taken me on a mission trip to Jamaica, where I had the honor of spending time with abandoned children and the destitute poor.
Once again I found that I gained tremendous insight as to what a genuine thankful spirit is, and was humbled by the attitude of gratitude, not for things but for the gift of eternal life.
Sitting with beautiful old Jamaican souls; the faces of men and women at a government infirmary, sucking on the marrows of oxtails, with no shoes and tattered clothes is an indellible memory. I was saddened by the unsanitary living conditions but totally transported by the Spirit into a place of hope and encouragement as we sat there on broken benches singing old hymns, locking eyes and hands and reciting Psalms together. Seeing the eyes of Jesus in theirs was a treasure of a memory that birthed new friendships and a ministry focus that will continue as I plan for next years trip
I had the joy of taking several women from Los Angeles to the hills of Jamaica, mostly focusing our attention on 2 area orphanages, At Mt. Olivet Boys home, we sponsored a birthday party and field trip to the beach. There are 50 some boys there, ages 4 to 18 years. We bought sandals for the boys and 4 goats for them to raise for slaughter. I had the pleasure of recording their voices on 2 songs @ the West Indies College for my last record project as they have wonderful voices and great heart. They performed with me at a party in Mandeville.
The other place we spent time at was the New Hope Children's Home. NHCH provides a safe haven for discarded infants up to 5 year olds. The need for a pair of loving arms, encouragement and kind words for the children and their workers is great.
The often unspeakable story of each one of these children is heartbreaking, yet the word promises:
The Lord secures justice for the poor and the cause of the needy. Psalm 140:12
For the lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality. He defends the cause of the fatherless. Deut. 10:17,18
For more information on how you can help the children of Jamaica or participate in this mission or a number of other short term mission opportunities thoughout the world, that I love and endorse; email me at my website and I'll get you hooked up!
"Psalm 8:2 says the sound of the children’s praises will still the enemy and the avenger. As the praises of a restored group of children are heard in our streets as with the sound of the pied piper many lame, bruised and abused children will join with them in the songs of deliverance. It will be a liberating experience for the church and for God’s world of children in trouble.
Tell me again!!"Dr. P. Morgan
